College Spotlight: Elizabeth Wunn

1. What are you involved in on your campus?

"At Creighton, my favorite involvements are Campus Ministry, the Schlegel Center for Service and Justice (SCSJ), and my sorority. With Campus Ministry, I am involved in a CLC, which stands for Christian Living Community. It is a small faith-sharing group of underclassmen that I co-lead with another student who has become one of my closest friends. We meet every week to talk about faith and life, and it has been one of the best parts of my college experience. I also have been involved with multiple Campus Ministry retreats out at the Creighton Retreat Center! At the SCSJ, I work in the office and am on the student leadership team that plans the service and justice trips that we have every fall and spring break. I have gone on 5 of these trips, which go all over the country and are really impactful experiences!"

2. Tell us about a recent time you encountered the Lord!

"I feel God’s presence in my CLC every week, but I had a special encounter with the Lord at our final meeting of the year last week. Since I am graduating this month and this was my last meeting, I asked the group to reflect on what they had gotten out of this community these past two years. Every single person shared about how much CLC meant to them and how impacted they had been by having such a strong and special faith community in their lives. They talked about how they had grown so much in their faith from this group, and been inspired to live it out in their everyday lives. I felt God so clearly in the way He revealed how He had been working in my life and all of our lives through this amazing group."

3.Who are some people in your life that you look up to and are good mentors for your faith life?

"There are some amazing people that inspire me at Creighton. The staff members at Campus Ministry and the Jesuit priests on campus inspire me to never stop growing in my faith and to continue to share it with others. The staff members at the SCSJ inspire me to put my faith into action through acts of service and justice to try and make the world a better place. I am also continuously inspired by my friends and peers around me who live out their faith in their daily lives and encourage others as well!"

4.Is there a time within your college experience when you had to share your faith? Tell us about it

"Last fall, I give a talk on Creighton’s Encounter with Christ retreat that was called A Life of Love and Service. I shared about what my own faith has meant to me and how I feel like God is calling me to put my faith into action by serving others. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first to share parts of my faith life with 60+ people on a retreat, but I eventually felt at peace, like God was calling me to share my faith in that way at that moment.
